Louisiana Democrats Sell-out 2012 JJ Dinner     

New-LDP-Logo-291x300The Louisiana Democratic Party has sold out its 2012 Jefferson Jackson Dinner which will be held at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans this Saturday, August 4th.

Keynote speakers for the event, which will draw approximatley 1,000 Democrats from across the state, are Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley and Newark, NJ, Mayor Cory Booker.

Lifetime Achievement awards will be presented to Former Representative Alphonse Jackson, Jr., Leah Guerry, and former labor leader Sibal Holt. Jerry McKernan and Mary Wisham will be honored posthumously for their work.

Special guests include Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed.

Louisiana Democrats who will be attending include: Senator Mary Landrieu; Congressman Cedric Richmond; Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover; Louisiana House Democratic Leader John Bel Edwards; Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus Leader Rep. Patricia Haynes Smith; Louisiana Senate President Pro Tempore Sharon Weston Broome; House Speaker Pro Tempore Walt Leger, III; Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell; Host city Mayor Mitch Landrieu; and Louisiana Democratic Party Chairwoman Karen Carter Peterson.

Reporters and camera operators who will be attending need to check in at the event registration desk. We will have a short media availability for keynote speakers O’Malley and Booker, and LDP Chairwoman Peterson from 6:50 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
