Young Democrats of New Orleans Announce Executive Committee Appointments
New Orleans, Louisiana, July 9th, 2012 –In announcing the restructuring of Young Democrats of New Orleans, a division of Young Democrats of Louisiana, ydNOLA is proud to announce Executive Committee appointments. J.C. Romero and Samuel Cook, III will serve as Co-Chairmen. Troave’ Profice has been appointed 1st Vice Chair; Adam Preveau, 2nd Vice Chair; Durrell Laurent, 3rd Vice Chair; Kristine Breithaupt, Secretary and Jarrell Sanchez, Treasurer.
J.C. Romero joins ydNOLA as Co-Chairman having previously served on the Committee to Elect Kristin Palmer for New Orleans Councilwoman, as well as the Committee to Elect Caroline Fayard as Lt Governor of Louisiana. Mr. Romero has an A.A. in English Literature from Delgado Community College, and is currently in his last year of study at Loyola University where he is earning a B.A. in Sociology/Pre-Law.
Samuel Cook, III joins ydNOLA as Co-Chairman serving actively as a Genn44 Coordinator for the Obama for America, 2012 Campaign. Mr. Cook has earned a B.A. in Public Relations from Alcorn State, an M.A. in History from the University of Toledo, and is currently completing his Ph.D. in Public Policy at Southern University (Baton Rouge).
Troave’ Profice joins ydNOLA as 1st Vice Chair and Head of Fundraising and currently serves as a Manager of School Performance for the Recovery School District. Prior to accepting the National Urban Fellows award for the class of 2011, Ms. Profice has served the youth of New Orleans in multiple capacities, from educator to administrator, as well as worked with the entrepreneurial community of New Orleans. She has attained a Bachelor of Arts from Loyola University New Orleans, an M.P.A from Baruch College – New York City and is currently pursuing a M.Ed. from the University of New Orleans.
Adam Preveau joins ydNOLA as 2nd Vice Chair and Head of Communications with nearly ten years of sales management experience. A product of Archbishop Rummel High School, Mr. Preveau has attained a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in Pre-Law from the University of New Orleans where he is currently pursuing an MBA as well. He looks forward to positively impacting his community through ydNOLA’s efforts of building a stronger, more vocal Democratic Party within the Greater New Orleans Area.
Durrell Laurent joins ydNOLA as 3rd Vice Chair and Head of Membership and Recruitment while currently serving as the Gentilly Neighborhood Team Leader for Obama for America-Louisiana. A lifelong resident of Gentilly, he is a graduate of St. Augustine High School and received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Texas Southern University. Mr. Laurent owns and runs an independent insurance agency, Geaux Group Insurance Advisors, and is a member of both the New Orleans Metropolitan Realtors Association and the Independent Insurance Agents of Louisiana.
Kristine Breithaupt joins ydNOLA as Secretary while currently working as a non-profit program director in Mandeville. Ms Breithaupt, a four-time veteran of statewide democratic campaigns, has also fought for candidates in New Jersey and Virginia. Most recently, Ms Breithaupt served as the Louisiana Democratic Party Statewide Women’s Outreach Coordinator. Ms. Breithaupt has attained both a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University.
Jarrell Sanchez joins ydNOLA as Treasurer while currently working as a tutor. Mr. Sanchez, an Accounting and Mathematics major at Delgado Community College, is a member of Alpha Beta Gamma and Phi Theta Kappa, and currently serves as President of Mu Alpha Theta and Treasurer of the Honors Council at Delgado. Mr. Sanchez is proud to join ydNOLA’s efforts to build a stronger Democratic Party within the Greater New Orleans area.

Young Democrats of Louisiana has had a long-standing New Orleans chapter, though in recent years, the organization has undergone a restructuring due to former members ascending within the Louisiana Democratic Party. The newly branded ydNOLA chapter looks forward to giving Young Democrats of New Orleans an opportunity to voice political opinions and form policy recommendations with fellow members, ages 18-35, in a like-minded environment, as well as actively enlist citizens in the effort to build a stronger, more vocal Democratic Party within Louisiana and the city of New Orleans.
