Ahead of Mike Pence’s Visit, Louisiana Democrats Announce Statewide Day of Action

Baton Rouge, LA – Friday,  the Louisiana Democratic Party announced that they’re protesting Mike Pence’s visit to the state by encouraging Louisianians to join a statewide Day of Action on Saturday, Oct. 5.

“Louisiana is fighting back,” Stephen Handwerk, Executive Director of the Louisiana Democratic Party said. “We’re sending Mike Pence and the LAGOP a clear message that we refuse to let them bring Washington D.C. style politics and Bobby Jindal’s failed policies back to Louisiana. This Saturday, our protests are loudest when we use our voice to cast a ballot, tell others, and re-elect our governor.”

Louisiana Democrats are urging those fed up with Republican lies and failed policies in Louisiana to take action by early voting, visiting their local campaign field office, canvassing, and making phone calls to re-elect Gov. Edwards.

“We cannot sit idly by as Republicans try to take us back to the days of no healthcare, sky-high deficits, and deep cuts to our public schools,” Karen Carter Peterson, Chair of the Louisiana Democratic Party said. “Louisiana wants a leader who invests in our students and teachers, defends our healthcare, and fights to give every Louisianian a fair shot to get ahead. This Saturday, join us in our Day of Action and tell Republicans that we won’t go back.”

On Saturday’s Statewide Day of Action, hundreds of volunteers around the state will visit field offices, knock doors, and talk to voters to re-elect Gov. Edwards and keep moving Louisiana forward.

You can visit any of the seven campaign field offices throughout the state or sign up to make calls from home. Find out how to take action here.
