Louisiana Democratic Party Releases New Video, “#LAGOPFail”

BATON ROUGE — The Louisiana Democratic Party today released a new video highlighting the seemingly endless string of failures under Gov. Bobby Jindal, U.S. Sen. David Vitter, Congressman Bill Cassidy and the rest of the Louisiana Republican Party.

“Louisiana Republicans have presided over one failure after another,” said Louisiana Democratic Party Executive Director Stephen Handwerk. “For example, Governor Jindal likes to claim Louisiana has a strong economy, but our unemployment rate is growing, even as the national unemployment rate has gone down. In Washington, Senator Vitter has joined a divisive, extremist movement to shut down the government, a plan that even his fellow Republican senators have called ‘dishonest,’ ‘hype’ and a ‘silly effort.’ Congressman Cassidy and the rest of Louisiana’s Republican representatives have tried — and failed — 40 times to repeal the Affordable Care Act, while Louisianians are waiting for action on jobs and the economy.

“The failed policies of Louisiana Republicans are starting to pile up, but Louisiana Democrats are working hard to advance policies that will create good-paying jobs, expand access to affordable health care and invest in public education. Our priorities are the same as Louisiana’s working families, and we will continue to fight for them at the national, state and local levels.”

Since last Tuesday when the Louisiana Democratic Party launched its social media campaign, mentions for the hashtag #LAGOPFail have topped nearly 500 and reached more than 400,000. Just today the Louisiana Democrats added “Jindal’s Meltdown” — a $15-million boondoggle in which bags of ice costing more than $28 each were given away to private businesses or allowed to melt — to their list of #LAGOPFail moments on the Party’s Facebook page.
