Important Dates

 

February 11 – Delegate and alternate candidates may obtain the statement of candidacy and pledge of support forms and filing instructions from State Party Committee Headquarters, in person, by mail, or from State Party’s web site at [www.democrats.org].

March 5 – Presidential preference primary.

March 14 – Any registered Democrat in the state of Louisiana will be able to request a Vote By Mail ballot for the election to be held on April 30, 2016.

March 30 – District-level delegate and alternate deadline for filing the statement of candidacy and pledge of support forms with State Party.

April 6 – Last day for any registered Democrat in the state of Louisiana will be able to request a Vote By Mail ballot for the election to be held on April 30, 2016.

April 27 – Last day to receive Vote by Mail ballots from registered Democrats who requested a ballot for the election to be held on April 30, 2016.

April 30 Primary congressional district caucuses slate district-level delegate and alternate candidates.

May 13 –  Pledged PLEO and at-large delegate or alternate candidate deadline for filing the statement of candidacy and pledge of support forms with State Party.

May 28 –  State Central Committee convenes. Unpledged add-on and  PLEO delegates selected. Following selection of PLEO delegates. State Central Committee selects at-large delegates and alternates. . National Convention delegation meeting. Delegate select National Convention standing committee members and delegation chair. State Chair names convention pages. State Party certifies remainder of elected delegates and alternates along with standing committee members, delegation chair, and convention pages.
