“Nicest” Award Goes to House Democratic Caucus Chair John Bel Edwards

BATON ROUGE — The Louisiana Democratic Party today presented awards to its 2013 Naughty and Nice list winners — as selected by the voters of Louisiana — with Gov. Bobby Jindal voted as “Naughtiest” and House Democratic Caucus Chair John Bel Edwards selected as “Nicest.”

“Louisiana’s voters know if their elected officials have been bad or good, and the policies of Governor Jindal have been one failure after another,” said Louisiana Democratic Party Executive Director Stephen Handwerk. “In addition, Jindal has put his political ambitions over the needs of the people of Louisiana in choosing to reject federal Medicaid dollars to expand access to health care for hundreds of thousands of uninsured Louisianians. For that and more, Jindal is our ‘Naughtiest’ politico of 2013.

“Meanwhile, Representative John Bel Edwards effectively led his caucus during the legislative session, worked across the aisle, pushed back against Jindal’s policy agenda and helped to craft a budget that provided the first pay increase for Louisiana’s teachers in years. That’s more than enough to put him at the top of our “Nicest” list in 2013.”

Earlier this month Louisiana Democrats conducted a contest via social media (#NaughtyNiceLA) and email to accept nominees from Louisiana voters for the state’s “Nicest” and “Naughtiest” politicos. Here are a few social media posts from grassroots activists:
