Louisiana Democratic Party Mourns the Loss of Leah Chase

BATON ROUGE, LA – Sen. Karen Carter Peterson, Chair of the Louisiana Democratic Party, released the following statement Sunday on the passing of Leah Chase, a world famous chef, Civil Rights leader, and New Orleans icon.

“Yesterday, New Orleans and the world lost an icon,” Sen. Karen Carter Peterson said. “Leah Chase wasn’t just the Queen of Creole Cuisine, she was a force in the civil rights movement and an inspiration to many. I loved her spirit and constant counsel. No matter when I saw her, she always offered positivity and words of wisdom. She was such a blessing to so many, and her legacy lives on in each person she touched in her life and works. She’ll be sorely missed.”
