Louisiana Democratic Party Releases Statement on LAGOP’s Executive Director Andrew Bautsch’s Arrest
BATON ROUGE, LA – On Monday, Louisiana Democratic Party Executive Director Stephen Handwerk released a statement surrounding the arrest of LAGOP Executive Director Andrew Bautsch. Bautsch was arrested just hours after his wedding for battery, criminal trespassing, and resisting/obstruction of an officer.
“This is an unfortunate instance that needs to be looked into,” Stephen Handwerk, Louisiana Democratic Party Executive Director said. “The fact that my counterpart at the LAGOP appears to have violated the law and put a member of our law enforcement in harm’s way is concerning. With last week’s appalling revelation of the LAGOP’s sexist recruitment tactics combined with today’s accusations against Andrew Bautsch, you have to question who still supports this Republican Party?”
The Louisiana Democratic Party fully condemns the actions committed by Andrew Bautsch and look forward to a robust investigation to shed light on these allegations.
