Louisiana Democratic Party’s Fifth Congressional District Candidate Jessee Fleenor Discusses Future Elections
BATON ROUGE, LA – On Tuesday, the Louisiana Democratic Party’s endorsed candidate for Louisiana’s 5th Congressional District, Jessee Fleenor, ended a hard-fought race against Congressman Ralph Abraham. Fleenor met with thousands of his constituents throughout the district and spent months spreading his message of hope to the people of Louisiana.
“Jessee is an incredible candidate who still has a lot to offer this district,” LDP Executive Director Stephen Handwerk said. “He ran a tough race and stayed honest to the people of the 5th Congressional District and his message truly resonated with a lot of them. Jessee’s not done. We’re confident he still has a lot more to give this district and we’re excited to stand with him every step of the way.”
“Being given the opportunity to fight for the good people of my district has been one of the greatest experiences of my life,” Fleenor said. “I’ve been met with such great energy and gratitude in all 24 parishes of the 5th District and have had so many people tell me that they stand with me and my platform and message. There is such incredible need in the many impoverished areas of the 5th District and the time to start taking better care of each other is now, not later. My campaign has always been people focused and this state deserves leaders who can empathize with the actual needs of the people, instead of just cutting corporate taxes and shaming the poor.
“I still believe that’s what this district needs and that’s what we deserve, which is why I’m announcing my intent to run for Louisiana’s 5th Congressional District in 2020. In three short months, we have begun the work of building a coalition of people from all different backgrounds, brought together by our shared belief in caring for each other as one American community. This is just the beginning and I’m going to keep fighting for my friends, family, and neighbors to ensure they have someone in the political arena who is always putting them first. I’m going to take some time to sell a few vegetables and enjoy a break with Amanda and our three amazing children (Kai, Sia & Ari) who have encouraged and stood by me throughout this entire process – then it’ll be back to the road to continue to organize the wonderful people of the 5thDistrict into a political force to be reckoned with. Louisiana deserves better representation than what we have right now and I’m ready to continue the work of finding that better together.”
