Louisiana Democratic Party Statement on Jeff Landry’s Early Morning Campaign Texts

BATON ROUGE, LA – On Thursday, the Louisiana Democratic Party released a statement regarding Attorney General Jeff Landry’s 3 a.m. campaign texts containing misleading statements regarding his position on Louisianians’ healthcare. 

“This morning, Louisianians received a rude awakening. First, when Jeff Landry woke us up with a 3 a.m. campaign text; then, when we saw that he’s still lying about his fight to rip healthcare away from 800,000 Louisianians,” Stephen Handwerk, Executive Director of the Louisiana Democratic Party said. “The truth is, a last resort bill to save your healthcare wouldn’t even be necessary were it not for his lawsuit to rip away protections for pre-existing conditions. Today, the people of Louisiana are tired of him using his office for partisan political fights, tired of our healthcare being in danger, and after his 3 a.m. wake up call – just tired. Louisiana is ready for an Attorney General who works for us, protects our healthcare, and uses the office to represent the people, not for partisan political fights.
