Louisiana Democratic Party Statement on Jeff Landry’s Early Morning Campaign Texts

BATON ROUGE, LA – On Thursday, the Louisiana Democratic Party released a statement regarding Attorney General Jeff Landry’s 3 a.m. campaign texts containing misleading statements regarding his position on Louisianians’ healthcare.

“This morning, Louisianians received a rude awakening. First, when Jeff Landry woke us up with a 3 a.m. campaign text; then, when we saw that he’s still lying about his fight to rip healthcare away from 800,000 Louisianians,” Stephen Handwerk, Executive Director of the Louisiana Democratic Party said. “The truth is, a last resort bill to save your healthcare wouldn’t even be necessary were it not for his lawsuit to rip away protections for pre-existing conditions. Today, the people of Louisiana are tired of him using his office for partisan political fights, tired of our healthcare being in danger, and after his 3 a.m. wake up call – just tired. Louisiana is ready for an Attorney General who works for us, protects our healthcare, and uses the office to represent the people, not for partisan political fights. Ike Jackson is that candidate.”
