Today, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi administered the Oath of Office to Louisiana’s newest Congressman, Troy Anthony Carter. Congressman Carter is a Democrat representing Louisiana’s 2nd Congressional District.
Louisiana Democratic Party Chair Katie Bernhardt issued the following statement:
“After nearly four months of waiting, Louisiana Democrats are excited to have a voice in Congress once again. Congressman Troy Carter is a principled, experienced, and dedicated public servant who will fight for the people of Louisiana. Congressman Carter will work with President Biden to pass legislation that makes historic investments in our state’s infrastructure and provides much-needed support for Louisiana families. Today’s swearing will prove to be an important date in our state’s history.”
