Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne endorsed Rep. John Bel Edwards today at LSU’s Free Speech Alley. In accepting Dardenne’s endorsement, John Bel promised to never embarrass Dardenne or Louisiana as Governor.

Dardenne’s endorsement of John Bel’s integrity and character come in stark contrast to his comments about Senator Vitter, whom he said was “lying” during a candidate forum in October. Other prominent voices in Louisiana including Public Service Commissioner Scott Angelle, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand and columnist Jim Beam have also raised significant questions about Senator Vitter’s integrity, trustworthiness and campaign tactics.

“Jay Dardenne’s endorsement of John Bel Edwards is proof that Louisianians of both parties, of every race, and every walk of life are supporting John Bel and his vision of putting Louisiana first,” said Stephen Handwerk, Executive Director of the Louisiana Democratic Party. “Louisianians simply don’t trust Senator Vitter, and why should they? He has lied to us every step of the way in this campaign, and it’s catching up to him.”
