BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Democratic Party today released a statement reminding voters that only citizens specifically registered as Democrats will be eligible to participate in this year’s Democratic Presidential Primary. The deadline for voter registration and for officially changing your party affiliation is next Wednesday, February 3rd. The state party urges everyone who wants to make their voices heard in this year’s Louisiana Democratic primary to confirm their registration and party affiliation before next Wednesday, February 3rd.

Louisianians can use the Secretary of State’s website to verify their registration and confirm their formal party affiliation with the Democratic Party. You can also register to vote or change your party affiliation in person with your parish’s Registrar of Voters. Full details are available at this link.

Election Day for the primary is on Saturday, March 5th, with Early Voting scheduled for February 20th and February 22-27th. To be eligible to participate in selecting this year’s Democratic nominee for president, voters must register as Democrats by next Wednesday (Feb. 3rd).

“Every American has a stake in this year’s presidential election, and every Democrat has a voice in selecting our party’s nominee,” said Sen.
