Louisiana Democratic Party Mourns the Passing of Longtime Democratic Servant Linda Day

BATON ROUGE, LA – On Thursday, the Louisiana Democratic Party learned about the passing of longtime advocate and tireless Democratic servant Linda Day. Linda fought for Democratic candidates throughout the state, served a champion for educators and working families all across Louisiana, and was a friend and family member to so many.

“I’m heartbroken at the news of my close friend Linda Day’s passing,” Chair Karen Carter Peterson said. “Linda was an incredible ally to the Democratic Party but, more importantly, she was an incredible friend and incredible part of the LDP family. She made a lasting impression on every person she came across and made a changes to Louisiana that will last for generations to come. My heart and prayers go out to her friends and family as we all remember Linda and celebrate the amazing life she led.”

“The impact Linda had on Louisiana is immeasurable,” LDP Executive Director Stephen Handwerk said. “Without her, so many of us wouldn’t be where we are today. We owe her a debt of gratitude that we can never truly repay and I’m blessed to have called her my friend. We join with our Governor’s team, the Louisiana Association of Educators, and the entire Democratic Family in in keeping Linda and her family in our hearts. Her passing is deeply saddening to everyone who knew her and we will spend every day honoring her by continuing the fight she so selflessly dedicated her life to pursuing.”
